Originally built circa 1900 as a stable and carriage house, the Gatehouse was renovated in the early 50's into a gracious summer home by the famous musician and bandleader, Fred Waring. In 2001, the Gatehouse made its debut as a Bed and Breakfast and has become a warm and inviting four season retreat from the world.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the spacious great room at your table for two -- or weather permitting -- outside on the flagstone courtyard near the historic icehouse (The round building in the photos).

Each of the unique guest rooms has its own special style and all feature a private bath, walk-in closet and scenic views. Whether you stay in the elegant Carriage Room, the quaint Courtyard Room or the rustic Cabin Room, a quiet, restful night's sleep is assured. The unique game room is available to all guests.

The Gatehouse Country Inn is located in the historic village of Shawnee-on-Delaware. This charming and quaint village is nestled within walking distance to the Shawnee Inn and Resort. Here you can enjoy year-round recreation at Shawnee including golf, the Tillinghast Golf Academy, skiing, snowboarding, ice hockey, river adventures, professional theater, swimming, and hiking on the Appalachian Trail in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

The Shawnee General Store:
Step back into time and visit The Shawnee General Store (c 1859). Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch, grab a cup of coffee or a refreshing ice cream cone all in a quaint, relaxed setting -- and know what it feels like to be part of a "village".
Sam Snead's Tavern: Named after the famous golfer, Sam Snead, who has a special history associated with the Shawnee Golf Course. Fine food, indoor and outdoor dining, a sports bar featuring a golf simulator and a large collection of Snead memorabilia.
The Shawnee Playhouse -Don't travel to NYC to see a play, when you can leisurely park and attend the theater at Shawnee Playhouse. The season offers professional shows, children's theater and matinees.
Shawnee Falls Studio-- Gwendolyn Evans Caldwell exhibits her work and gives classes and workshops.

- Iron/Ironing Board available for guest use.
- Close to Shawnee Mountain/Golf Course.
- Guest rooms do not have TV or phone. There is a TV in the Great Room.
- All Guest rooms have private bath and air conditioning.

Payment in full at the time of booking.

Check In: After 3:00pm. (Special arrangements can be made for late arrivals.)
Check Out: By 11:00am

Breakfast Hour: 9:00am. Please contact the Innkeeper if you have special dietary needs.

The Gatehouse Inn is not suitable for children under 12 years of age or for pets. The Innkeeper is pleased to make your stay special. Please call if you would like something special in your room (flowers, wine/champagne, balloons, etc.)

CANCELLATION POLICIES:
We understand that plans change, and you may need to cancel or modify your reservation.All Changes are subject to a $7 fee. All cancellations are subject to a $50 cancellation fee per room. Reservations cancelled on or within 10 days prior to arrival will be charged a penalty equal to 1 night(s) room and tax charges (for one night stays) OR 50% of the stay (for 2 or more nights)in addition to a $25 cancellation fee per room. Reservations cancelled within 48 hours of arrival will forfeit the entire stay in addition to a $25 cancellation fee per room. This applies to No Shows and early departures as well. Please contact our reservation center at 1-800-572-0134 to cancel or modify a reservation. ***May require additional days in season or for special events.***

Directions:
From New York and points East
Take I-80W to the Delaware Water Gap Bridge, take first exit (EXIT 310) follow sign for Rt 611S to stop sign. Go directly across to River Road. Go 3 miles through the village of Shawnee. We are 2 blocks past the Playhouse on the right. Driveway is just past the end of the stone wall.

From Philadelphia and points South
Take the PA turnpike NE extension (Rt. 476) North to Rt. 22E to Rt. 33N to 209N to Rt. 80E to EXIT 310 (DWG last exit in PA) make first left to River Road. Go 3 miles through the village of Shawnee. We are 2 blocks past the Playhouse on the right. Driveway is just past the end of the stone wall.

From points West
Take Rt. 80E to EXIT 310 (DWG last exit in PA) make first left to River Road. Go 3 miles through the village of Shawnee. We are 2 blocks past the Playhouse on the right. Driveway is just past the end of the stone wall.

From Points North
Take Rt. 209S from Milford, PA toward Marshall's Creek then just past Foxmoor Village Mall bear left on Hollow Road then left on River Road. We are two blocks from the Playhouse. Driveway is just past the end of the stone wall
